About the Book

18-year-old Celaena Sardothien is an assassin in a kingdom without magic. She is summoned to the castle to fight for her freedom. Placed in a competition in which she needs to defeat almost two dozen other skilled criminals, she needs to put everything on the line to win. Because if she does, she will be released from prison and named the king’s champion. But that's not all, there's something in the castle that's out to kill and possibly destroy her world.

Let's talk about it

If I were to recommend one YA fantasy series to someone, it would be this series. Throne of Glass is the first book in a series of seven. While that may seem intimidating, the first book will practically drag you into the world, and the seven books suddenly seem like it's too short. Not to mention the fact that the books get better as you go on. The writing style is easy to read, making it the perfect introduction to fantasy for new readers. I’m almost sure that I finished this book in five hours without getting up once. While this does include romance, Sarah J Maas does it in such a way that you care more about Celaena and her development than her romantic interests. It’s also amazing to see a very feminine lead in a fantasy novel that loves dresses while also being a tough assassin. If I could wipe my memory to read this book again, I would do it in a millisecond. This is the perfect book to cozy up with on a cold winter day, which is a time of year slowly creeping up on us.
