Grand Opening Celebration – September 17th 2016

Come to the Library on September 17th to help us officially commemorate the re-opening of the renovated library! Volunteers Needed! If you’d like to be on our team helping with one or more of the events on Saturday, adults can click here to sign up, and students can click here!

Many activities have been planned and continuing to come together – check below for the schedule of events (schedule subject to change, new activities/events may be added, and some events are weather dependent) and which Food Trucks will be here:

10 AM – Multi-generational trivia contest (30 min, Children’s Program Room)
10:30 AM – 4:30PM Teen Movie Screenings (The Outsiders, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Spirited Away, Teen Commons)
11 AM – 3PM HMHS Arts Honor Society Chair Painting (Tents, Library Lawn)
11 AM – 3D Printer demonstration (30 min, Library Classroom)
11:30 AM – Children’s documentary screening – “In the Valley of Wolves” (1 hour, Children’s Program Room); Q&A with Erica Starr, wolf expert
1:00 PM – Visit from Haddonfield-based award winning illustrator Robert Byrd (30 min, Children’s Program Room); Mr. Byrd will sign books; books will be available to purchase
1:30 PM – Adults’ documentary screening (90 min, Library Classroom) – “Circle of Poison”, winner of Best Environmental Film at 2016’s San Francisco Frozen Film Festival
3 PM – Pre-millennial trivia contest (30 min, Library Classroom)
4 PM – 3D Printer demonstration (30 min, Library Classroom)
4 PM – Kids Yoga for ages 5-12 years, must be accompanied by an adult (45 min, Library Lawn)
5 PM – Vinyasa Yoga for adults, led by Paige O’Malley, certified vinyasa yoga instructor (45 min, Library Lawn)

Attention Dan Gutman fans: We will raffle off Dan Gutman books signed by the author himself!

Bernadette Hennessy May from Game Friendzy will be at the library teaching/playing games on the lawn in front of the library! Game Friendzy schedule:

  • 10:00 – Come, learn and play – Pengaloo – A great Pre-School and early elementary game!
  • 10:30 – Jacks! Traditional Jacks and Otedama (a Japanese version of Jacks)
  • 11:00 – Let’s play Checkers!
  • 11:30 – Whist – an introduction to Bridge for the family! Ages 8+
  • 12:00 – Come, learn and play – Pengaloo – A great Pre-School and early elementary game!
  • 12:30 – Jacks! Traditional Jacks and Otedama (a Japanese version of Jacks)
  • 1:00 – Let’s play Checkers!
  • 1:30 – Whist – an introduction to Bridge for the family! Ages 8+

In Addition, Mah Jongg will be available from 10am – 2pm under the tent on the Library Lawn, and chess is available all day at the library’s chess table under the trees.

Get creative with our button-maker (all day in the 1st floor tutor area) and temporary tatoos (5PM on the lawn in front of Library).

Food Trucks will be on site: Cupcakes 2 Go Go, Sweat Pea Ice Cream, Whole Hog

Weather permitting, the day will conclude with a family movie screening under the stars in front of the library (title TBD…)
